Two Egyptian nationals were among eight people injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Wednesday, 7 October. The figures come from a statement by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), carried by the Saudi Press Agency. The injured were five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident, with injuries ranging from minor to critical, GACA said. A Sudanese resident was killed in the attack. The Riyadh attack was one of two that GACA reported on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 and 7 October. An attack on Abha International Airport on Tuesday killed two female residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian. It also injured 28 people, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident and a Filipino resident. The two attacks left three people dead and 36 injured, according to GACA. The authority said all the injured were taken to hospital for treatment and that the attacks caused some property damage. A familiar Egyptian song filled the air in Seoul on Thursday as a children’s choir welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung during El-Sisi’s historic state visit. The children sang the beloved Egyptian song “Feeha Haga Helwa” (“There’s Something Beautiful”) in Arabic, creating a warm cultural moment during a visit focused largely on strengthening political and economic ties between the two countries. The visit comes as the two countries announced that they are elevating their relationship to a strategic partnership, opening the door to closer cooperation across a wide range of areas. A new chapter in Egypt-Korea relations During talks in Seoul, El-Sisi and Lee discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, technology, energy, infrastructure, shipbuilding, and artificial intelligence. The two sides signed 12 memoranda of understanding and agreements covering a wide range of sectors, while also agreeing to begin negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
