Suez Canal Revenue Rises 23 Percent in the 2025/2026 Fiscal Year as Regional Tensions Ease
Source: https://egyptianstreets.com/feed/

Revenues from the Suez Canal reached USD 4.67 billion (EGP 230.22 billion) in the 2025/2026 fiscal year, a 23 percent increase since the year before, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chair Ossama Rabie stated in an interview with Ahmed Mousa on the Sada Al-Balad TV show on Sunday, 28 June. Rabie briefed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in a separate meeting the same day.    During the meeting, Rabie and El-Sisi discussed recent developments in relation to the production of twelve new, advanced “REZK” class deep-sea fishing vessels. These vessels, designed for high-seas fishing, are to be manufactured in Egypt. The President also reviewed the construction of new fibreglass boats, including the completion of hulls for three cruise launches, to support both Nile and maritime tourism.   The increase in Suez Canal revenues indicates an easing of regional tensions, including a recent decline in hostilities between Iran and the United States.    Due to regional tensions in 2024, specifically in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, Suez Canal revenues fell to USD 3.9 billion (EGP 192.28 billion). Shipping in the region was significantly disrupted by Houthi raids on Israeli-affiliated ships inContinue reading "Suez Canal Revenue Rises 23 Percent in the 2025/2026 Fiscal Year as Regional Tensions Ease"

Morocco Edge Netherlands in Penalty Thriller to Reach Round of 16
Source: https://egyptianstreets.com/feed/

Morocco secured their place in the World Cup last 16 after defeating the Netherlands on Monday, 29 June, in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Monterrey, Mexico, following a 1–1 draw. After both teams were locked at 2–2 in the shoot-out, Ismael Saibari converted the decisive penalty to send Morocco through and end the Netherlands’ campaign at the earliest stage of the tournament in the country’s men’s World Cup history. The match itself had taken an emotional turn as Cody Gakpo put the Netherlands ahead in the 72nd minute after an excellent break from Crysencio Summerville, and what followed was a wave of intensity as Morocco responded and pushed for an equalizer. Extra time offered few clear-cut chances, but the most notable moment belonged to Morocco. Soufiane Rahimi went one-on-one with Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen in extra time and looked set to break the deadlock, only for the keeper to somehow deflect his shot. In the shoot-out, Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou proved decisive again, producing a strong save to deny Crysencio Summerville and keep Morocco in control of the match. After Bounou’s save, Saibari sent the winning kick into theContinue reading "Morocco Edge Netherlands in Penalty Thriller to Reach Round of 16"
