EgyptAir has launched its first direct flight between Cairo International Airport and Zanzibar, Tanzania, according to a statement by the national carrier on Saturday, 5 September. The new route will operate twice a week on Fridays and Sundays, using EgyptAir’s Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. The inaugural flight recorded a load factor of more than 90 percent, according to the airline. The route connects Cairo with Zanzibar, a popular tourist destination in East Africa, while expanding EgyptAir’s network across the African continent. Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, said the new route is part of the airline’s plans to expand its presence in Africa and connect Egypt with strategically important destinations across the continent. He added that the expansion is intended to support tourism and investment ties between Egypt and other African countries while offering passengers more direct travel options. Mohamed Alian, Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines, said the airline introduced special fares in Economy and Business Class to mark the launch of the new route. Tickets for the Cairo-Zanzibar route are available through EgyptAir’s website, its offices worldwide, and travel agents.

Egypt’s Dar al-Iftaa announced a new digital platform focused on family affairs, alongside a set of recommendations addressing emerging challenges facing families, according to a statement by Nazir Ayyad, Grand Mufti of the Republic, on Friday, 4 September. The announcements came at the conclusion of the 11th International Conference of Dar al-Iftaa, held from 2 to 3 September under the theme of protecting the family amid social and technological changes. The conference brought together religious scholars and researchers to discuss issues affecting families, including the impact of digital technology, changing social dynamics, and the growing pressures surrounding marriage and family life. One of the key announcements was the launch of ‘Sakan’, a digital platform designed to provide family-related fatwas, consultations, premarital guidance, and support for reconciliation between family members. The platform is expected to use artificial intelligence to help organize and provide access to a large body of family-related religious guidance.
