How a TV Crime Show Hostess Went From the Screen to a Death Sentence
Source: https://egyptianstreets.com/feed/

Sarah Khalifa was known to Egyptian television audiences as a media personality and television host. Her career placed her in front of the camera, including in programmes dealing with crime and criminal cases. Today, she was sentenced to death after being convicted of drug trafficking.   In 2025, Khalifa’s own name became associated with a major criminal investigation. Her case began in April 2025, when Egyptian authorities arrested her in Cairo as part of an investigation into what prosecutors described as an organised criminal network involved in the manufacture and trafficking of synthetic drugs. According to the prosecution, Khalifa and other defendants were involved in importing raw materials that could be used to manufacture synthetic narcotics. Investigators alleged that these materials were intended for the production and subsequent trafficking of drugs inside Egypt. The investigation eventually led to 28 defendants being referred to trial. The prosecution presented a substantial body of evidence to the court. This included testimony from 20 witnesses, as well as technical and digital evidence, including messages, photographs, and videos that prosecutors said documented the defendants’ alleged activities. The charges went beyond drug-related offences. Prosecutors also accusedContinue reading "How a TV Crime Show Hostess Went From the Screen to a Death Sentence"

At the center of the debate is the Mercator projection, a map created in the 16th century that remains widely used around the world. While the projection was designed for navigation, it significantly distorts the apparent size of land masses, particularly those farther from the Equator. One of the clearest examples is Greenland. On a Mercator map, Greenland can appear comparable in size to Africa. In reality, Africa is about 14 times larger than Greenland. The UN resolution promotes the Equal Earth projection, developed in 2018, which represents the relative areas of continents more accurately. The African Union has backed the projection as part of a wider campaign to change how Africa is represented on commonly used maps. Why Africa wants theContinue reading "UN Backs New World Map Showing Africa’s True Size"
