17 Killed and 28 Injured in Bus Crash on Dahab-Nuweiba Road

  Seventeen people were killed and 28 others injured after a bus overturned on the Dahab-Nuweiba road in South Sinai on Wednesday, 2 September, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Health. The crash happened near the Al-Saada area. The Health Ministry sent 20 ambulances to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident. Seventeen people died at the scene, while medical teams treated the injured and transported them to receive further care.  Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar also ordered medical authorities to provide the injured with all necessary treatment, medicines and equipment. Jordan’s semi-official channel, Al-Mamlaka TV, reported that 10 of those killed were Jordanian nationals. Medical teams are continuing to monitor the condition of those injured, the ministry said.  The crash comes less than a month after another major road accident in Ismailia on 11 August, when a collision involving two vehicles carrying day labourers killed 18 people and injured around 30 others. According to Egypt’s official statistics agency, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics(CAPMAS), traffic deaths increased by 10.8 percent in 2025, reaching 5,829 compared with 5,260 the previous year. Hamza Abdelkarim Makes History With FC Barcelona Debut

  Young Egyptian player, Hamza Abdelkarim, made his competitive debut for FC Barcelona during the club’s 5–2 La Liga victory over Rayo Vallecano on Monday, 31 August, becoming the first Egyptian player to represent Barcelona’s first team in a competitive fixture. Abdelkarim entered the match in the closing stages, replacing Raphinha. Although his time on the pitch was brief, the appearance carried enormous significance.  He became the first Egyptian player in Barcelona’s history to appear in a competitive match for the first team. He is also only the third Egyptian to play in La Liga, following Mido and Haissem Hassan. The 18-year-old had impressed throughout Barcelona’s preseason, finishing as the team’s leading scorer with four goals.
